March 2010

Welcome to the Tier 5 & 6 of Tinkering in Norrath, as you may know Tinkering uses a lot of loams for all the tiers, plus quite a lot of ore, soft metals and gems. The exact number of each varies with the item that you are creating, but loam is generally what you will be most short of the time, if you don’t have access to a guild supply depot. The harvest amounts will get increasingly greater as you progress thru each tier. All tinkered items are made on a jewelry workbench, using coal of the appropriate tier that you are creating.

Now these are just some of the items that can be created while you are Tinkering. Of course there are few more Tiers of items, that we can discuss in a later issue. The Main importance to remember here is these items can help you out in a tight jam, example Raid has been wiped 9 times most everyone’s gear is broken, you gather some pieces of the machines, mobs that you have been trying to slay and create a clockwork menderbot letting everyone repair their equipment, you have came to the rescue of the raid, you are their hero…This is just one facet that Tinkering can make you become a legend  with in Norrath!

Until next time Happy Tinkering in Norrath!!

OK i just saw this out on the forums, Looks as if Free Realms is giving a promotion for this weekend only,  April 2 thru April 4th if you purchase a retail station cash card and redeem it during that period you will receive double the station cash, Calthine over at ZAM has also confirmed this on the forums at SOE. So since station Cash is linked back to most of SOE Games even though this is a Free Realms promo, you should still see the double cash in EQ2 as well.

So stock up on your station Cash this weekend while the promo is going on.

Below is the splash that’s out at Free Realms website and this was also posted on the forums by Calthine.

Happy Hunting in Norrath!!

Ok so there was a update today, here are the patch notes as they appear from the SOE Forums.  Thanks for the info Kiria

GENERAL

  • Guild status has been added for Heroic zone boss kills and raid boss kills.
  • Personal Supply Depots can no longer be “returned to owner”.
  • New Mounts are available for purchase in North Odus (Scions of the Deepwater Knights), South Odus (City of Paineel) and from horse merchants in the cities of Kelethin, Freeport, Neriak and Qeynos for 90 level guilds.  In addition, a chance to obtain a mount is available in both the group and raid portion of Erudin Palace.

BATTLEGROUNDS

  • You will now automatically unmentor when a battleground match ends.
  • Going to a battleground and returning should not change the setting of roleplay or anon on your home server.

ITEMS

  • Red Adornments are now Heirloom.
  • Yellow adornments are now flagged heirloom.
  • The Erollisi Day crafted masks, Face of Love and Mask of Passion, are no longer Lore, or No-Trade.
  • The Runed Victim’s Skull has had its resists lowered.
  • The minimum block chance on the Brawler Enervated weapons has been moved to the mythical spell.
  • The Venomous Chain Legs of the Plague now have Torrent II rather than Fatal Lifetap II.
  • Rune of Blasting can no longer critically hit.
  • Many raid dropped bows have been changed from short bows to longbows.
  • Two new bows have been added to drops for hardmode raid encounters.
  • Resists added to many accessories.
  • A small number of accessories had a higher-than-intended amount of spell reuse. The amounts have been lowered to be in line with non-BG items
  • The resists and physical mitigation on the Indomitable jewelry set from Battlegrounds now only applies in PVP Combat.
  • Merchant of Discord and Sisters of Battle items have been updated to match their Battleground or Open PVP counterparts.

SPELLS

  • Berserker "Whirlwind" now persists through death.
  • Monk "Dragon Rage" should function in PVP combat as a target lock.
  • Torrent and Pestilential Rain effects should no longer break Mesmerize.
  • Brawler’s Tenacity has a slightly longer duration.
  • Deathward can now crit and can now be cast on the Defiler.

QUESTS

  • The final encounter in the Heritage quest, “A Source of Malediction” will now reward AA experience.
  • Players are no longer required to be inside the Necrotic Asylum when reading Dread Exarch Mordek’s journal to progress the quest.

KALADIM

  • Gonga barrels cause much less damage now, an appropriate amount for the dungeon.

LAIR OF THE DRAGON QUEEN

  • When a player summons Sherra everyone in the zone should now get a message telling you who summoned her.

ROYAL PALACE OF ERUDIN

  • The disc associated with Gloom Chevalier Faris should no longer occasionally stop working if players leave the instance and return later.

THE HOLE: DEMITRIK’S BASTION

  • Demitrik should no longer get stuck with his heal buff on if players spam click the machine before he teleports. This was also causing him to call his buffs at the incorrect times.
  • The trash mobs in the zone have had their hitpoints reduced slightly. This does not include the specters in the first area although they have been made easier to pull without having to clear the first area.

THE HOLE: SPIRIT’S RESONANCE

  • Nortlav the Scalekeeper should no longer possess players quite so many times and should have slightly more hitpoints so players fighting him can work on lowering his health while the possessed player worries about the books.
  • Nortlav the Scalekeeper should no longer set his class to the same class as the person who he copied. This is to avoid some potential damage loops causing the fight to bug out.
  • The Possessing Spirit of Kyrenna should no longer resurrect her minions or herself more than twice. Her health has also been adjusted.
  • Players doing the quest “Entomologist Ally” can no longer target the Gargantuan Graveyard Stinkbug so the key can be looted.

VASTY DEEP

  • The zone to Vasty Deep is now a clickable zone portal and no longer a zone line. You will need to click it to enter!

Ok so today’s post we are going to jump ahead and cover 3 tiers of the Tinkering sub/secondary Tradeskill.

Now as i mentioned in my last two post, Tinkering can be a lot of fun and you can really see the rewards / benefits from making these items. If you have alts you can make them some Tinkered Charms that will help for their tradeskills & adventures, If you are in a guild these items can be showcased with in your guild halls for all of Norrath to see, or do as i have done taking 1 of each of the items and placing them within your home to again display your handy work.

So we are at Tier 2 skill point level 50-85 several levels of pure tinkering, remember to pick up your blueprints ahead of time so that you can ensure that your tinkering will not be disrupted by having to go and obtain blueprints in order to continue to level up.

These items can be sold on the broker to make a profit from the materials that you have used, some items wont sell for much but some you will find that you can make a nice profit, just remember to be patient with the broker and check regularly in case you have been out bid.

These are just the 1st tier of Tinkered items, and in most cases you will have to make several of these items in order to gain your skill points. Once you hit 50 you are on to Tier 2 of the Tinkered Items, which we will cover in our next edition of Travels of Norrath!

Until Next time…Happy Tinkering in Norrath.

Hello and welcome to part one of Tinkering in Everquest II. In this section we are going to cover the basics of Tinkering with in Everquest II.

What is Tinkering ??

Well the art of Tinkering is a secondary tradeskill, Tinkerer can craft a large variety of items. Items range from tools that give small bonuses to crafters up to resurrection items and pets. Tinkering recipes are extremely resource intensive; so be prepared to spend a little coin if you don’t not have comfort of a guild supply depot.

How do i become a Tinkerer??

To become a Tinkerer you need to already be at least a level 10 tradeskiller in any tradeskill, have the Echoes of Faydwer expansion, and visit a Tinkering Trainer or Master. The trainers can be found on the docks in Butcherblock Mountains, Gnomeland Security in the Steamfont Mountains, or in the treetop city of Kelethin.

How do i level as a Tinkerer??

Well you do not level like you normally would in the other tradeskills!!  In Tinkering, you will scribe specific “Blueprints” and then create items that are associated with the blueprints, each time you finish a item you have a chance to gain 1 skill point level, just like when you are harvesting. So basically just like harvesting you are gaining skill points in order to level.  The Blueprints are found all over Norrath either by questing or as a random loot drop off mobs, loot drop or quested blueprint is a recipe to construct an uncommon tinkered item (Mastercrafted / upgrade Items) and may require more than 1 rare material item to complete when tinkering. Also the Blueprints can be found with in the docks in Butcherblock Mountains, Gnomeland Security in the Steamfont Mountains, or in the treetop city of Kelethin. However the Tinkering trainer is Gnomeland Security  has all the blueprints you will need to begin your journey as a Tinkerer.

In my next installment of Tinkering we will be talking about the different Blueprints, also if i feel energetic i may even provide a list of all the blueprints that are obtainable with information on what they will make.

I am currently working my way thru the tinkering sub-class to and will be providing first hand experience on this wonder addition to Everquest II.

Until next time Happy Tinkering in Norrath!!!

~Chubby~

Well Gaming this weekend was on track, i was getting my tinkering built up i made it to 54 in tinkering when all of a sudden i was frozen, knowing that my PC has been giving me problems, i rebooted anyways and knew the work around hit F8 go to boot settings select the drive that has window on it and it will load, well it the gremlins in the pc figured out that i figured out how to get to work so they figured it out to make it not work, confused yet..lol

Long story short my PC will not boot, it does have 2 hard drives but only one had the boot drives so i need to wait till my IT guy (Corliss) calls me in the morning to see what’s going on, until then i have the game loaded on my laptop and trying to get all the patches to run, without the streaming version.

i will have a better post once i can make sure i can get it up and running .

Until next time happy hunting in Norrath!!!!
